AARDVARK FLAIL ASSEMBLY
Rear mounted flail assembly is positioned 8 metres away from the crew compartment to ensure maximum safety and consists of a 3m wide, double-sleeved rotor carrying 72 chains fitted with striker tips.
The rotor rotates at speeds in excess of 300 rpm with the chains attached every 40mm along the triple helix design. This means that six striker tips will be striking the ground at any one time, and every piece of ground will be struck at least twice. The depth at which the flail will dig can be precisely controlled by the operator through the seat mounted control interface, and no matter the terrain the vehicle is flailing across, the flail will automatically follow the contours of the ground.
The ruggedized computer interface fitted to each of the operator’s blast-protected seats, controls the contouring and vehicle systems.
To aid in-field maintenance and reduce possible downtime, an engine driven air compressor, complete with air reservoirs and air tools, facilitates chain replacement and improves the ease of maintenance and cleaning of radiators, coolers and filters.
Depths from 0mm to 800mm to cover surface clearance and, vegetation reduction, through to deep mine burial.
Ground speed is a result of desired depth of clearance and ground condition.
